For information about me as an author, please see my entry in the main Wiki.

For information about me as a Wiki gardener, well, I haven't done so much yet. My focus is on cleaning and tidying and fixing broken links. I only recently was forced to figure out the Wiki mark-up language, so maybe you'll see more contributions from me here in the future.

Feel free to leave a message for me on my talk page!
Jessknochhttps://www.ifwiki.org/index.php?title=BetaComp_2004&diff=9705BetaComp 20042005-09-21T13:55:15Z
Jessknoch:

BetaComp 2004 was a minicomp organized by Jessica Knoch. Like the previous year's contest, BetaComp_2003, entrants did not submit games of their own. Instead, entrants were asked to download a game that was still being developed and submit a beta-testing report as their entry. The game used in 2004's BetaComp was Planet of Death, Neil Bowers' port of a 1982 game. The beta-test reports were judged by both Jessica Knoch and Neil Bowers in the following categories: Organization, Clarity, Thoroughness, and Ability to criticize.

There were nine entrants. The results were:
* Honorable Mention: Mike Jones
* Pulling No Punches: Mark Tilford
* Best Use of Undo to Try Different Approaches: James Bond
* Best Encouragement (With Appropriate Fixes): Apollo Hogan
* Most Thorough Listing of Missing Synonyms: Esa A. Peuha
* Funniest Report and Most Critical Without Actually Insulting the Author: Adam Thornton
* Grammar King: Andrew Walters
* Second Place and gift certificate winner: Andrew Krywaniuk
* First Place, Best Beta-Test Report, and gift certificate winner: Graham Holden
