How It Begins
The work opens with a quote from Adrian Lyne's film Jacob's Ladder (1990). Then an introductory paragraph compares the protagonist’s job with a cut-throat competition both against the maddening routine and against a gang of merciless workmates. The protagonist must be alert, must be ahead of their opponents, must be cautious and, first and foremost, must be imperturbable.
The game opens with a disclaimer: profanity, explicit violence and gratuitous enmity toward others lie ahead. Nevertheless the author explains that the game deals with finding out one’s self-esteem and begs the player to understand the true purposes beyond the plot.
You are in your dreadful office: at your separate corner to be exact. On your desk there are an in-tray, an out-tray and a telephone. You are carrying a creased dollar bill.
