There are still a few problems with this first version of the Inform 6 page:

An interactive fiction programming language, created by Graham Nelson in 1993 and now one of the most popular IF development systems.

The 1993 date (30 April 1993) is for Inform 1, not 6! Inform 6 was released on 30 April 1996 (and Inform 5 on 13 June 1994).

(Sources of the dates: here and there. Although the latter is incorrect about the 1993 date: I think there was a comment by Graham Nelson about this mistake somewhere, but I can't find it again.)

Inform 6 is particularly notable in that it compiles to code for the Z-machine, the same virtual machine used by Infocom. More recent versions of the Inform compiler optionally produce code for the more powerful and flexible virtual machine Glulx.

Well, all that is just as true for Inform 7, for instance!

Inform 6 is not an easy language to learn

Some people would disagree with this judgment... (And some of them would also disagree if the text was "Inform 6 isn't as easy to learn as Inform 7" instead.) --Eriorg 07:18, 24 April 2009 (PDT)

  • Oh, I know it's a poor page as is, but I had to create something for it. Previously, Inform 6 just redirected to Inform, and I don't think we could stay with that much longer. Not when "Inform" is usually presenting itself primarily as Inform 7 these days. I think the first version of the Inform page came from the IF Theory Glossary, before Inform 7 ever existed, which is why it's such a poor reflection of the current status of Inform. -- David Welbourn 10:01, 24 April 2009 (PDT)
