BetaComp 2004 was a minicomp organized by Jessica Knoch. Like the previous year's contest, BetaComp_2003, entrants did not submit games of their own. Instead, entrants were asked to download a game that was still being developed and submit a beta-testing report as their entry. The game used in 2004's BetaComp was Planet of Death, Neil Bowers' port of a 1982 game. The beta-test reports were judged by both Jessica Knoch and Neil Bowers in the following categories: Organization, Clarity, Thoroughness, and Ability to criticize.
