Name change

Note: The next four comments are from when this category was under its previous name, "Dead people." Based on poll results, I changed the category name to "In memoriam." bg (talk) 21:00, 12 December 2024 (UTC)

I hadn't realised this was a category. I will add it in a few more appropriate pages. I'm not sure I like the wording "Dead people". Also, would it be better if we formatted the category like the People one, so that it was ordered by surname? --Strident (talk) 21:12, 20 March 2024 (UTC)

To sort by surname, you'd have to add DEFAULTSORT to all the relevant people pages. Some have that already, e.g. Douglas Adams has {{DEFAULTSORT:Adams, Douglas}}. What would you prefer instead of "Dead people"? I see on the forum that suggestions are "Departed" (presumably "Departed people") and "People who have died". I don't mind the current name but wouldn't want to stand in the way of progress. Jonathan (talk) 23:41, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
"Deceased" might be fine. RogerC (talk) 01:04, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
"Deceased person" I guess. "In memoriam" has now also been suggested on the forum. Jonathan (talk) 09:32, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
