How It Begins
You might be anyone, carrying a Sandman comic book collection, at an astrology convention in Alaska. You see a large trunk with a luncheon on top, and Neil Gaiman, your favorite comic book author. You're here to get him to sign your comic books.
Author's Comments
This was my first attempt at authoring an IF game, and it's somewhat more buggy than I'd like. For example, the release number is a coding error; it should be release 1, not 14. Oh well. Also, my understanding of Inform 6's react_before was faulty, resulting in identical expressions of horror no matter what item the player opens, not just the trunk. However, some players liked that effect so I consider that error to be fortuitous.
Writing a Speed-IF is something of a mixed blessing. You're probably not going to write anything all that wonderful, but it does get you to write something. Like, honestly, what sort of title is "A speedIF O entry"? One where the author wasn't even thinking about titles, that's what.
The body-in-the-trunk-with-food-on-top idea was borrowed from Rope, a play by Patrick Hamilton that I was acting in at the time.
