Author Commentary (old link)

Basic Use:

This dead ac link template is for dead links that formerly pointed to "Making-Of" articles, postmortems, and similar author commentary. The arguments in this template are the same ones found in the author commentary template (and, for that matter, the same ones found in the link and dead link templates).

If a link using the author commentary template goes dead, we can change "ac" to "dead ac" to switch to this dead ac template.

Arguments:

  • url (Required if "archive" argument is absent. Optional if "archive" argument is present. ) Specifies the formerly-live url of the making-of article.
  • archive (Required if "url" argument is absent. Optional if "url" argument is present.) Specifies an archived version of the url (for example, from the Internet Archive).
  • link text (Optional.) This is an unnamed argument. If this argument is omitted, the link text will show up as "Author Commentary," which may be enough for a link on an individual work page.

If the "archive" argument is specified, the link will point to the archived url. If the "archive" argument is omitted, this link will point to an Internet Archive search for the original url, and the wiki page will be automatically added to the New links wanted category.
