The interactive fiction archive is a store chain that sells, trades, and packages interactive fiction games.
The first store opened its doors in 1992, on the same day as the website. The stores hold conventions on selected dates throughout the year.
On convention days, people who visit the interactive fiction archive’s stores get a set of coins known as plays, where they can buy games with them.
The stores are modeled upon the white house from Zork I, complete with a ‘boarded’ front door, an oriental rug in the stores ’living room’ and a ’cellar,’where visitors can watch the games being packaged.
