• The "interactive comic", as defined on TV Tropes (with numerous examples listed), is a genre in its own right. These comics mimic the style of IF by having the character react to IF-style commands, usually given by readers who can thus affect the plot.

• The Mansion of E by Robert M. Cook
  Many words from games set in Zork are sprinkled throughout the run of this comic, although never with the exact same meanings. Here are some examples of usage:
  • Bloits: as distance between chairs.
  • Dornbeast: first mention of, detailed description of.
  • Filfre: referenced character.
  • Frobozz: on a pencil.
  • Frotz and Gnusto: referenced charcters.
  • Nitfol (a recurring minor character): reappearance.
  • Rezrov a gnome.
  • The Gostak: mentioned here. The line about "pelling back to the bewl" definitely refs the Z-code game.
• A Modest Destiny by Sean Howard.
  • AMD #147 - A reference to grue-infested caves is followed by a wistful "those were the days" comment and quiet pause.
• MS Paint Adventures by Andrew Hussie.
  • The webcomics hosted on this site use an interactive fiction-inspired format, where the plot develops through IF-style commands given to characters. Throughout most of the website's run, the webcomics' plot and the characters' actions were indeed suggested by the readers as IF-style commands, though the use of suggestions has been discontinued some time ago.
