"Alan Smithee" is a pseudonym commonly adopted by film industry professionals unhappy with circumstantial changes compromising their initial vision and unwilling to be credited under their real name.

Note: The "Alan Smithee" of Pick up the pine box and die is known to be Taleslinger (part of the game says as much), and is not the same author who wrote Escape from Crulistan.
