This is the talk page for Current events. See How to edit IFWiki to find out about using talk pages, and editing the wiki generally.

In case anyone's wondering, the basic plan is to roll off news items that are more than three months old off this page onto whatever permanent page(s) are appropriate. For Game Releases, items will be moved to the appropriate Games Released in YEAR page. Review items will move to the Reviews page. Publication issue announcements for things like SPAG, InsideAdrift, etc. I'll probably just drop, assuming that the appropriate page(s) for the publications are/will get updated anyway. (I think it would be nice, in time, to have index pages for the publications. Somehow.) I don't know where newspaper articles about IF are going yet. Competition information will go onto pages for the appropriate comp plus get some mention on the appropriate Competition Calendar page. I've made no definite plans for old website and tech news as yet; I'll think of some pages for those when it becomes necessary, I'm sure.

Most sections in the Current events page should be in reverse chronological order, newest news added at the top, and oldest items rolling off the bottom. The obvious exception is the Competition section which should be mostly in chronological order, at least as far as deadlines go. However, news items of the results of past comps can be expected to sink down the upper part of the Competition section, making way for newer comp news. Hopefully that's clear. -- David Welbourn 10:26, 17 Mar 2005 (Central Standard Time)

Dropping "Website News" and "Tech News"

These sections of the Current events page aren't working for me. Older items don't expire, they don't seem to get a lot of new items, and stuck at the end of the page they look a little ghettoized (if I may use that term). So I'll fold both of these sections into the Reviews and News section, and that's where new website and tech items will go. Okay? -- David Welbourn 16:30, 2 July 2006 (EST)
