The Slamdance Guerilla Gamemaker Competition was a competition for many types of electronic games with a focus on game design. Rule 5 specifically welcomed interactive fiction formats. The competition was not held after 2007 due to a controversy over a juried game being pulled from the festival, which led many finalists (including Nick Montfort's IF entry Book and Volume) to withdraw in protest.
