Splashdown is the title of the 8th place winner of the 10th Annual Interactive Fiction Competition, authored by Paul J. Furio. A science-fiction comedy-adventure, Splashdown is heavily inspired by Planetfall, the Infocom game authored by Steve Meretzky.
In the game, the player is an interstellar colonist awoken from cryosleep when the colony ship suffers an unforseen catastrophy. A robot sidekick, named Spider, arrives early in the game to assist the player and offer comic relief.
This game was written in the Inform programming language. It also featured an Adobe Acrobat manual that was reminiscent of the original Infocom documentation, including a parody interstellar travel brochure.
