Amstrad is a manufacturer of electronics based in Brentwood in Essex, England and founded in 1968 by Sir Alan Michael Sugar in the UK. The name is a contraction of '''A'''lan '''M'''ichael '''S'''ugar '''Trad'''ing. It was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1980, and is still listed today.
