Talk:TADS interpreters

From IFWiki

This is the talk page for TADS interpreters. See How to edit IFWiki to find out about using talk pages, and editing the wiki generally.

To whoever's editing this page: I'd appreciate it if you'd add XTads to the list. See xtadsetc.com -- Rune (talk) 18:07, 1 July 2023 (UTC)

XTads is in the database (see that page), but it doesn't appear on this list because it's not marked as a "Recommended interpreter". In the words of the software form:
Is this interpreter user-friendly enough to recommend to new players? If you answer “Yes,” then this interpreter (if stable) will be added to our recommendations [...] If the user must compile the interpreter from source code, answer “No.” If the interpreter must be launched from the command prompt (other than on Linux), answer “No."
The options are "No answer/unknown", "Yes", "No", with the first option currently selected for XTads. I don't know enough to say how XTads should be classified -- if you do, you can edit the page yourself. -- JTN (talk) 18:35, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
I can't seem to find where to mark XTads as "recommended" on the XTads page. I'm the author of said software, and I consider it stable and user-friendly enough for new players. It's a ready-to-run executable - the user does not have to compile it. Please advise, or just go ahead and mark it as recommended. Rune (talk) 19:18, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
I don't know enough about this either so have created a topic on the Intfiction forum: Should XTads be on IFWiki as a “recommended interpreter”?. Incidentally, you can indent talk page replies with colons, and add a signature with four tildes (~~~~) :-) Jonathan (talk) 20:42, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
