How It Begins
As his people are fighting a hopeless battle against the Machines of Geryon 5, a godlike being uses their sacrifice to slip through the Machines' defensive network -- and dies. And then is reborn, in human form, as he once was. He grows wings and enters the central tower of the Machines' city. Inside, he finds an ancient computer workstation, incongruous in this people-less world, and starts hacking it in an attempt to end this war. He remembers his past. His story began ages ago...
You are 2nd Lieutenant Solomon "Wiseguy" Shepard of the Andarian Rifles, a minor mercenary company. Business has been slow lately, so your squad is patrolling this newly settled asteroid on the edge of charted space. Right now, you're just spending a late evening in the Grand Curve Bar. Khemgi, the alien bartender, is preparing your next drink.
